Awesome book to learn about guitars. Without it your lost!
The book is fairly comprehensive and has an adequate description of the guitars and features. Some guitars are not listed, and some of the models are hard to look up when a company makes a wide variety of models. The book seems to get superseded pretty quickly but is much cheaper than some of the other guides out there. Hopefuly the book is accurate, since it lists an imported Ovation guitar as having a solid top when most of those models are known to have plywood tops. If you buy the book on CD, the user interface is awkward.
crazy mashine
The book could really use some photos. It is a good reference book and should come in handy. I am disapointed that the book has pricing informaion for each guitar but the companion CD does not.
This book arrived in new condition and contains a large amount of detailed information on numerous guitars. There have been 2 more editions printed since this one, so it is slightly dated info, however the book was as described on the website.
excellent reference book
I have played a little guitar for awhile. I have known some folks with nice collections of vintage guitars, but I was ignorant when they would tell me they had a 1956 Martin D 28, or a Gibson this, or a Taylor that. With the Blue Book I was able to learn the relative values of various models. I used the info to purchase a dream guitar from ebay. And now I know why one could spend $600 for one Martin guitar and 100,000 for another.
This book tells you just about everything about any acoustic you can think of. This edition is several years old, so some of the values have probably changed.....but I got it for $1.50 (+ s&h), so it was well worth it.
